Report on evaluation of NSW RFS smoke plume modelling system

[摘要] The NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) have developed a Smoke Plume Modelling System (SPMS) to predict the likely distribution (extent and concentration) of 10 μm (1x10-6 m) PM10 diameter particles from the smoke of prescribed burns. The SPMS consists of a large scale weather model (CSIRO’s Cubic Conformal Atmosphere Model, CCAM), a pollution dispersion model (CSIRO’s The Atmospheric Pollution Model, TAPM) and dynamic map generation component. It is run by the RFS Community Planning Unit for prescribed burn managers using details for each prescribed burn provided on a request form and outputs maps of modelled categorised PM10 concentrations (μg/m3) for a height of 10 metres above ground level.
