Hylotrupes bajulus: Its Incidence in Australia and a Survey of its Habits

[摘要] Hylotrupes bajulus is not indigenous to Australia, but it has on occasions been introduced into the country in softwood timber received from overseas. Its presence in some of several thousand precut softwood houses imported from Europe in the late 1940's has focused attention on the risk of its becoming established in Australia. The situation in individual Australian states as at 1965 is summarized.To develop a sound basis for recommendation, the Division of Forest Products circulated a questionnaire to specialist entomologists in countries where Hylotrupes has become established. This paper presents the substance of the replies received.
