Development of Climate Scenarios in Viet Nam - Preparation of National Projections. Package 2 - CCAM & RegCM models. Method for inputting data in the Climate Futures Tool

[摘要] This report is part of the Development of Climate Scenarios in Viet Nam - Preparation of National Projections project, Package 2 - CCAMRegCM Models (UNDP Contract: 2015-01-02).The project follows on from a recently completed Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT)-funded project, High-resolution Climate Projections for Viet Nam, 2012-2013, a collaborative project between CSIRO, IMHEN and Hanoi University of Science (HUS), which produced a range of dynamically downscaled data. The Regional Climate Models (RCMs) used in this study were CSIRO’s Conformal-Cubic Atmospheric Model (CCAM) and RegCM4.2, developed by the ICTP in Italy. These data were analysed and presented in a summary, seven regional reports and a Technical Report (available at http://vnclimate.vn).This report provides information on the preparation of data for use in the Climate Futures Tool (CFT). This will allow additional regional climate projections for Vietnam to be incorporated into the CFT. Data already provided in the CFT are from the six 10 km and 50 km CCAM simulations from 1970 to 2005 for the historical period and for 2006-2099 for both RCP8.5 and RCP4.5. Data are also provided from RegCM4.2 at 20 km for two GCMs for the periods 1980-2000, 2045-2065 and 2080-2099. Finally, data from the PRECIS simulations produced by the UKMO were also incorporated to illustrate a method that can be used to combine data from more RCM simulations.
