Predicting Rock Permeability using the thirteen-velocity lattice Boltzmann method
[摘要] A d3q13 lattice Boltzmann fluid simulator has been created, implementing the half way bounce-back boundary condition and the multiple-relaxation-time collision operator. This model accurately simulates Poiseuille flow over a range of viscosities and accurately predicts permeability over a range of solid fractions for Stokes flow through a periodic array of spheres. The model is then applied to a flow domain reconstructed from digital CT scan data of samples of porous rock; the permeability of these samples is predicted from the outcome of the simulation.Appendices are provided on how to use the model, how to use the related software tools, and how to visualise the results.
