Diffuse recharge across Australia under a 2050 climate:Modelling results
[摘要] This report is the fifth in a series from the Investigating the impact of climate change on groundwater resources project funded by the National Water Commission under the National Groundwater Action Plan. It aims to project the change in dryland diffuse recharge under a 2050 climate relative to a 1990 climate. This work extends the modelling done for the various sustainable yields projects around the country to produce a consistent set of projections for recharge under a future climate at the continental scale.A range of future climate projections were considered by using 16 GCMs and three global warming scenarios together with the historical climate over the past 80 and 35 years. These future climates were simplified down to three future climates using a weighted probability distribution: a wet future climate, median future climate and a dry future climate. The temporal variability of recharge was also assessed as a wet 15 years, a median 15 years and a dry 15 years. The results of the work are summarised in Figure 1 for the four climate scenarios and three climate variabilties considered. The results are reported at the GMU scale. There has been very little interpretation of the results provided in this report; this will be done in the seventh report from this project.
