Ocean Acidification: Ecological Response Analysis, and cross—platform comparison of the available carbonate chemistry data for the Great Barrier Reef

[摘要] This project, Ocean Acidification: Ecological Response Analysis, and cross—platform comparison of the available carbonate chemistry data for the Great Barrier Reef, undertaken jointly by CSIRO and AIMS, has built upon carbonate chemistry data collected from a number of vessels (RTM Wakmatha, RV Ferguson), moorings (Davies Reef, Yongala) and from divers (on the GBR and at CO2 seeps in Papua New Guinea), and applied the eReefs regional model to provide a cross-platform synthesis of spatial and temporal patterns across and along the entire GBR, with links to relevant responses of the coral reef ecosystem.An evaluation by CSIRO staff of the carbonate instrumentation, both on-board the RV Ferguson and operating at the Davies Reef mooring, has identified a number of technical issues that having been addressed, through upgrades to equipment and operating procedures.The Davies Reef mooring has collected high-quality data since August 2017. However, data collected prior to these changes cannot be used with any confidence in developing an integrated dataset.
