Support for an Emissions Reduction Fund carbon sequestration methodology: Dead organic matter dynamics in semi-arid savannas: Milestone report 1 September 2017

[摘要] We have continued to work towards improved parameterisation of dead wood dynamics to support improvements to the quantification of carbon sequestration under changing fire regime in tropical savannas for the Emissions Reduction Fund. In addition to 26.5 ha of tree stand data collated earlier in the project from manually measurements, we have now added many tens of hectares of tree stand data collected using LiDAR equipment in collaboration with Shaun Levick of CDU/CSIRO. These data are still being processed, but will greatly increase the robustness of the understanding of the dynamics of dead wood in the 600-1000 mm Australian savannas. A writing workshop is planned to support drafting of the scientific paper that will form the basis of advice to the Agriculture section Domestic Emissions Reduction Division of the Department of the Environment and Energy.
