Test of Alkalinity Resistance of Strapping Samples for Prompt Engineering
[摘要] CSIRO has conducted an experiment to test the alkalinity resistance of strapping samples provided by Prompt Engineering. Samples of Z600 Galvanised steel and BlueScope Truecore® AM150 coated steel samples were supplied. Solutions were made up using 1g/L of sodium sulphate with the pH adjusted using sodium hydroxide. Five solutions were made up with pH of 7, 9.5, 11, 12 and 13. The samples of Galvanised strapping had minimal mass loss at all pHs tested and the Truecore samples had minimal mass loss at all pH’s except pH 13 where a significant loss was measured. The Truecore samples at pH 12 showed greying of the surface and the pH 13 samples were greyer.Initial results indicate that the Truecore strapping may be suitable for use in mortar. However further tests with strap samples embedded in mortar are needed to confirm that the Truecore will not corrode significantly in the mortar while it is carbonating. The samples were tested as supplied and the blue polymer coating on the Truecore samples may be important in their pH resistance.
