A new methodology for State-wide mapping of bushfire prone areas in Queensland

[摘要] This document describes a new science-based methodology for State-wide mapping of Bushfire Prone Areas (BPA) developed by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) in conjunction with the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service (QFRS). It replaces the methodology for mapping bushfire hazard in State Planning Policy 1/03: Mitigating the adverse impacts of flooding, bushfires and landslides.This new methodology has been used to produce new State-wide Bushfire Prone Area maps for use by local governments to inform the preparation of planning schemes. The methodology can also be applied by local governments who have access to more detailed vegetation information, and will be used to periodically update State-wide Bushfire Prone Area mapping as new source information (esp. vegetation mapping) becomes available.
