15th Annual Protein Expression Workshop (PEWS) 30th July – 1st August 2014: Report to DSDBI

[摘要] The Annual Protein Expression Workshop (PEWS) is a well established annual event to bring professional from academia and industry together to facilitate scientific networking, highlighting the latest methods and views in protein production and to showcase the latest technologies with the participation of leading scientific companies.As the workshop was successfully run in the last 14 years, it is now one of the premier forums in Australia focussing on the Victorian scientific community.The workshop is underwritten by the CSIRO but involves a wide range of institute and industrial participants. This is one of the last non-profit scientific forums which provides free entry to students and offers a minimum charge for professionals. To achieve this, the workshop relies on sponsors such as the Department of State Development, Business and Innovation (DSDBI), Biomedical Research Victoria and scientific suppliers to cover the costs.This year over 210 participants were registered, 24 seminars and 12 hands-on workshops were organised. Feedback was very positive both from participants and sponsors.The following report summarises the program, outcomes and participants of the 15th PEWS in July-August 2014.
