GENESI-DEC:a federative e-infrastructure for Earth Science datadiscovery, access, and on-demand processing

[摘要] Digital Earth is a visionary concept for the virtual representation of the Earth that is spatially referenced, interconnected with the world’s digitaldata repositories, and encompassing all its systems and forms, including EarthSciences, Natural Resources Management, Environmental Monitoring systemand human society dimensions. This paper introduces the EuropeanCommission co-funded project GENESI-DEC. GENESI-DEC will establishopen data and services access, allowing European and worldwide Digital EarthCommunities to seamlessly access, produce and share data, information,products and knowledge. This will create a multi-dimensional, multi-temporal,and multi-layer information facility of huge value in addressing globalchallenges such as biodiversity, climate change, pollution and economicdevelopment. GENESI-DEC evolves and enlarges the platform developed bythe predecessor GENESI-DR project by federating to and interoperating withexisting infrastructures.
