Single Crystal Sapphire Optical Fiber Sensor Instrumentation

[摘要] The goal of this 30 month program is to develop reliable accurate temperature sensors based on single crystal sapphire materials that can withstand the temperatures and corrosive agents present within the gasifier environment. The research for this reporting period has been segregated into two parallel paths--corrosion resistance measurements for single crystal sapphire fibers and investigation of single crystal sapphire sensor configurations. The ultimate goal of this phase one segment is to design, develop and demonstrate on a laboratory scale a suitable temperature measurement device that can be field tested in phase two of the program.
