Based on a coordinated research project (CRP) devoted to the assessment of innovative technology options for small reactors without on-site refuelling, this publication compiles the findings of research and development activities addressing neutronic characteristics, emergency planning considerations and deployment scenarios for such reactor types. The summary report documents the results and conclusions achieved by the CRP and suggests research and development activities to be furthered after completion of the project. The publication will be a useful guide for many Member States pursuing an attractive and affordable nuclear power option.
