This publication includes a detailed analysis of the most recent events collected in IAEA databases and other bibliographical sources. It provides the technical background for the recently revised IAEA Safety Guide on fire protection for new and existing plants and also a collection of lessons learned that is useful for practical fire safety enhancement in operating plants. It aims at providing a comprehensive summary of the experience in Member States, with special emphasis on the development of a unified approach to management of the feedback of experience, also in view of an improvement of the available methodologies for fire hazard evaluation.
