ON THE ROBUSTNESS OF THE H-VERSIONS AND P-VERSIONS OF THE FINITE-ELEMENT METHOD
[摘要] The classical h-version of the finite-element method achieves accuracy by refining the mesh and keeping p, the degree of polynomials used, at a fixed (low) level. We compare the robustness of such algorithms to that of the more recent p-version, which uses a fixed mesh and increases p. We consider two physical parameter-dependent problems that can lead to poor approximations near a limiting value of the parameter (locking). Our results show that p-type algorithms are generally more robust with respect to the parameter values than h-type ones.
