Stieltjes polynomials and functions of the second kind

[摘要] In this paper we discuss known and new facts on the asymptotic behaviour of the Stieltjes polynomials and the close relation to the asymptotic behaviour of the boundary values of the functions of the second kind on [-1, 1]. Most of the results are derived by new methods of proof where mainly the theory of real orthogonal polynomials is used.
