NEWTON METHOD UNDER A WEAK SMOOTHNESS ASSUMPTION

[摘要] The Newton method for solving operator equations in Banach spaces is studied under a smoothness assumption weaker than the classical Lipschitz condition. Sharp convergence condition and sharp a priori and a posteriori error bounds are obtained, which in the Lipschitz case coincide with or improve those known for this case.
