NONLINEAR TORSIONAL FLEXINGS IN A PERIODICALLY FORCED SUSPENDED BEAM
[摘要] This paper considers periodic flexing in a suspended beam, in the presence of small periodic forcing terms in the torsional and vertical components. The beam is considered as a vibrating beam with the hinged-end boundary conditions, in the presence of an additional restoring force due to suspension from cables, a force which becomes zero as soon as the suspending cables lose tension. The equation is therefore nonlinear. Numerical evidence is presented, which shows that the large-amplitude solutions as well as small linear solutions can occur for the same periodic forcing term over a wide range of frequency and amplitude.
