COMPARISON OF BRONCHODILATOR ACTIVITY OF SCH-1000 AND SALBUTAMOL
[摘要] The effects of the .beta.2-adrenergic agonist, salbutamol, 200 .mu.g and the cholinergic antagonist, Sch 1000 [atropine N-isopropyl acid ester] 40 .mu.g, were compared in 25 asthmatic patients using a single dose, double-blind, crossover trial design. Salbutamol aerosol produces a greater degree of bronchodilatation than Sch 1000 aerosol during the initial 3 h following drug administration. There is no significant difference in the bronchodilator effects of the 2 drugs in the interval 4-8 h after drug administration. Nonatopic patients showed less difference in bronchodilator response to each of the 2 drugs than atopic patients. Neither drug showed any significant adverse effect on blood pressure, pulse rate, or ECG. In 6 asthmatic patients the effect of the combination of salbutamol, 200 .mu.g and Sch 1000, 40 .mu.g, was evaluated. The combination produced a longer duration of bronchodilatation than either drug alone when compared to placebo.
