EOSINOPHIL - NEW ASPECTS OF STRUCTURE AND FUNCTION

[摘要] Structure and function of the eosinophil is reviewed in the light of electron micrographs which have shown a membrane bound cytoplasmic organelle containing a crystalloid granule core. Studies made of the guinea pig eosinophil granule revealed a MW of about 11,000 and it is rich in arginine. Rabbit antiserum to purified guinea pig eosinophils was used to test the cytotoxicity of the antiserum to eosinophils and neutrophils. The possible functions of eosinophils are given as parasite killer cells and regulation of homocytotropic hypersensitivity reactions.
