On the solution of a second order linear homogeneous difference equation with variable coefficients

[摘要] A closed form solution of a second order linear homogeneous difference equation with variable coefficients is presented. As an application of this solution, we obtain expressions for cos n theta and sin(n + 1)theta/sin theta as polynomials in cos theta. (C) 1997 Academic Press.
