[摘要] Let X be a real Hilbert space. Let T : X -> X be a continuous and alpha-expansive operator. Nirenberg proposed a problem as to whether or not T (with alpha = 1) is surjective provided that R degrees(T) = empty set; null . In this paper, I give the proof of the surjectivity of T with arbitrary alpha > 0. The paper gives a complete proof of the problem that has been open for over 45 years. (c) 2020 Elsevier Inc.
