THE EFFECT OF MOLYBDENUM AND OTHER TRACE ELEMENTS ON EXPERIMENTAL FUNGUS INFECTIONS IN GUINEA PIGS
[摘要] Guinea pigs given prior feedings containing high levels of Co, Cu, Cr, I, KI, Fe, S, W, Zn, cystine and vitamin C failed to show any evidence of resistance to infections of the skin and hair with strains of Microsporum lanosum and Trichophyton mentagrophytes. Two series of guinea pigs on high levels of Mo showed a suggestion of resistance to infection with one strain of [image] lanosum but not to 5 other strains of [image] lanosum or to one strain of T mentagrophytes. There was no significant difference in the Mo hair content of black, brown, and albino guinea pigs which had been on a regular diet. After feeding with Mo the highest levels were obtained in the black animals followed by the browns and albinos.
