THE MICROANATOMY OF MILIARIA CRYSTALLINA
[摘要] Anatomic pathologic changes of primary and secondary miliaria crystallina were studied in 2 patients. Hyperkeratosis of the sweat duct orifice involved in the vesicle formation was not demonstrable. Presence of a part of the terminal sweat duct in the vesicle roof was consistently seen with its lining of periodic acid-Schiff-positive material. Dilatation of the proximal part of the duct as it empties through the floor of the vesicle was encountered regularly. No changes were seen either in human miliaria crystallina or in experimentally obstructed footpad-ducts of cats that suggested that periodic acid-Schiff-positive material was the cause of duct obstruction. From the observations reported, simple rupture of a sweat duct wall without preceding obstruction distally to the site of rupture seems to be the initial change which results in miliaria crystallina.
