THE EFFECT OF SEX HORMONES ON EXPERIMENTAL TRICHOPHYTON PURPUREUM INFECTION IN RABBITS

[摘要] In castrated rabbits, topical applications of methyl testosterone in an ointment base had a curative effect; [alpha]-Estradiol applied topically in an ointment base was moderate in effect; both methyl testosterone and [alpha]-estradiol, when given by injn., were of no value; in control expts., the ointment bases in which the hormones were incorporated, an ointment containing 5% of ammoniated mercury, and repeated injn. of a standard commercial trichophyton, did not alter the course of experimentally produced T. purpureum infection.
