ELECTRON MICROSCOPIC STUDY OF NORMAL SKIN COLLAGEN AND ELASTIC FIBERS

[摘要] The structure and size of collagen fibrils as they appear in normal skin which has been embedded and sectioned are essentially the same as those reported in studies involving teased or macerated collagen preparations. The finer details of intra-period structure were not observed in the collagen fibrils. The depth of origin in the dermis of the collagen fibers was evident from the pattern of the collagen masses. Coiled fibers believed to be elastic fibers are described and discussed. In situ visualization of the fibrous structure of the normal dermis was accomplished, adding one more technique to the armamentarium of the dermatologic investigator.
