LYSOSOMES AND SKIN

[摘要] Lysosomes are defined and morphologic evidence for the presence of lysosomes in skin is reviewed. Biochemical studies of skin lysosomal enzymes, including cathepsin D, cathepsin B1 and neutral proteinases, and enzyme inhibitors are discussed. The role of lysosomes in various cutaneous physiologic processes, e.g., phagocytosis, pigmentation, keratinization (including effects of vitamin A) and sebaceous secretion, and their role in such pathologies as lysosomal storage diseases, Fabry''s disease, Chediak-Higashi syndrome, light effects and cutaneous inflammation is considered.
