A CONTRIBUTION TO THE BIOLOGY OF THE EPIDERMIS - STRATUM-OXYBIOTICUM AND STRATUM-ANOXYBIOTICUM
[摘要] Study of the granular layer suggests that the cells of this layer have an anoxybiotic (fermentative) metabolism. It is concluded that the epidermis can be divided into 2 zones, each having a different metabolism. The proximal zone, consisting of basal and prickle cell layers, utilizes oxygen and have an oxybiotic metabolism (stratum oxybioticum). The peripheral zone consists of the stratum granulosum, stratum lucidum and stratum corneum and has a fermentative metabolism (stratum anoxybioticum).
