THE FATE OF CHOLINE IN NORMAL AND PATHOLOGIC KERATINIZATION OF THE EPIDERMIS
[摘要] Estimation of free and bound choline by means of the microbiological method of Horowitz and Beadle reveals that in the normal keratinization process of human epidermis choline is decomposed to a great extent. This decomposition is rather incomplete in pathologically accelerated keratinization. Choline-containing compounds undergo hydrolysis during keratinization: in the total epidermis 6nly 5% of the choline is free as contrasted to 60 to 82% of free choline in scales.
