TREATMENT OF GRANULOMA INGUINALE WITH ERYTHROMYCIN

[摘要] Nine patients with granuloma inguinale were treated with erythromycin, both enteric coated tablets and plain capsules containing the antibiotic being used. Varying dosage schedules were used in order to arrive at the opt. One relapse was noted in an uncooperative patient. This patient received 100 mg. every 6 hrs. dispensed in plain capsules. Eight patients obtained a satisfactory result, with completely healed lesions. The follow-up period varied from 1-3 mos. Dosage with 100 mg. every 6 hrs. in plain capsules was inadequate, but admn. of 100 mg. enteric coated tablets produced a satisfactory result. The adverse reactions are minimal.
