STUDIES ON CIS UROCANIC ACID

[摘要] Experiments in vitro with [human] skin, liver or kidney homogenates indicated that cis UCA [urocanic acid] was not metabolized. When administered orally or intraperitoneally cis UCA was neither degraded nor conjugated but was excreted by the kidney unchanged. Cis UCA formed in vivo by UV irradiation of epidermis was not found in the urine within 24 hr. after irradiation. Thus, cis UCA formed in situ by UV irradiation does not normally enter the systemic circulation.
