EFFECTS OF PODOPHYLLIN UPON MACROMOLECULAR METABOLISM
[摘要] Crude podophyllin applied locally to the skin of guinea pigs caused stimulation of amino acid incorporation into epidermal proteins at a time when the incorporation of uridine into epidermal RNA [ribonucleic acid] was inhibited. These results, obtained with a skin slice system, have been reproduced with both crude podophyllin and several crystalline podophyllin derivatives in liver slices derived from treated animals. Stimulation of amino acid incorporation occurred in a liver cell-free system and was associated with an alteration in the ribosomal components of the tissue. It has been proposed that this stage of stimulated protein synthesis may be a general phenomenon caused by many substances which subsequently result in inhibition of epidermal proliferation.
