THIABENDAZOLE ACTIVITY AGAINST FUNGI OF DERMATOPHYTOSIS MYCETOMAS AND CHROMOMYCOSIS
[摘要] Our results confirm the findings of Robinson, Phares and Grassle, indicating significant in vitro activity of thiabendazole against dermatophytes. Species of Cladosporium, Phialophora, Fonsecaea, Madurella, Pyrenochaeta, Leptospaera and possibly Fusarium and Aspergillus are also inhibited by the drug. Clinical trials, by oral administration of the drug would seem warranted for the treatment of subcutaneous infections such as eumycotic mycetomas and chromomycosis, as well as for diseases caused by some opportunistic fungi. The possible topical use of thiabendazole in the eye and on the skin would also seem to merit consideration.
