ORIGIN OF FREE FATTY ACIDS IN SEBUM .I. ROLE OF COAGULASE NEGATIVE STAPHYLOCOCCI
[摘要] Lipase activity was uniformly found in isolates of coagulase negative staphylococci from the surface and follicles of human skin. The production of excessive quantities of free fatty-acids from preformed lipids of sebum in the natural medium of the skin was demonstrated. The lipolytic activity of resident staphylococci may be an important source of free fatty-acids of cutaneous surface [and aid in the development of acne].
