MEASUREMENT OF SKIN THICKNESS - COMPARISON OF 2 INVIVO TECHNIQUES WITH A CONVENTIONAL HISTOMETRIC METHOD
[摘要] Two in vivo techniques which were rapid, inexpensive, and reproducible were investigated. The 1st was a standardized radiological (xerographic) technique which was shown to be capable of detecting small degrees of human dermal atrophy after application of topical corticosteroid preparations for only 1 mo. The 2nd technique employed the Harpenden Skinfold Caliper used in on unconventional manner so as to exclude subcutaneous fat. This apparently was capable of detecting dermal atrophy from application of topical corticosteroids, and there was a strong correlation between the 2 techniques (r[correlation coefficent] = 0.82, P < 0.001). Histometric techniques, on the other hand, gave inaccurate and erroneous results for dermal thickness.
