STUDIES ON THE CHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF PSORIATIC SCALES

[摘要] The chemical composition of 20 specimen of scale from psoriatic subjects was studied and compared with the composition of normal callus. Observations of previous workers were confirmed and in addition much higher values for organic phosphorus were observed in psoriatic scale as compared with callus. The presence of an appreciable amount of uracil was demonstrated in psoriatic scale; this substance could not be detected in callus. As compared with callus the scales contain relatively large amounts of DNA and RNA. The implications of these findings in understanding the etiology of psoriasis were discussed in detail.
