PATTERN OF SUPERFICIAL BLOOD VESSELS IN HEALING SKIN DONOR SITES
[摘要] The healing of 48 split-thickness graft donor sites in 24 volunteers was studied by examining biopsies taken at intervals of 1 or 2 days. One-hundred and forty-four biopsy specimens were examined and the mode of healing of the donor sites is reported. The observations and data obtained indicate that arterioles extend to very superficial levels in the corium, particularly those related to arrector pili muscles. At a certain level, about 214 u below the epidermis, these arterioles become terminal in character. Injury, thrombosis, or embolism at this level would result in localized necrosis of the overlying skin.
