THE MECHANISM OF ACTION OF RUBEFACIENTS

[摘要] The mechanism of action of rubefacients were studied by use of the cheek pouch of hamster using various concentrations of esters of nicotinic acid, and essential oils such as wintergreen, clove, etc. The blood vessls taking part in the vasodilation were the arterioles and precapillary arteriolar sphincters. At high concentration a vasoconstric-tion was sometimes observed. It is suggested that the vasodilation response is mediated by nerve conduction.
