THE ESTIMATION OF THE RATE OF SECRETION OF SEBUM IN MAN

[摘要] Various methods for detn. of fat in sebaceous secretion are discussed and a new method described. The absorption method was inadequate, the scrubbing method effective but irritating, and the solvent method non-irritating and adequate if combined with gentle rubbing. The amount of fat on the skin of the forearm of a single individual was found to be 45.18 [plus or minus] 2.73 [mu]g./sq. cm. initially. The secretion rate was steady in the order of 0.1 [mu]g./sq. cm./min.
