ERYTHROMYCIN THERAPY OF ACNE VULGARIS

[摘要] Trial of erythromycin in 60 cases of acne vulgaris of various types resulted in excellent control of the pustular element in nearly all cases. This improvement was temporary, with recurrence following in the majority of instances within a mo. after treatment. There was little or no effect on the sebaceous secretion itself, either in the formation of oil on the skin or as comedones. Only 1 patient was intolerant of the drug, manifesting diarrhea to the extent of having to discontinue therapy. There were no untoward effects noted.
