LEUKOCYTES AND MELANIN PIGMENTATION - DEMONSTRATION OF PIGMENTED LEUKOCYTES IN BLOOD OF AMPHIBIANS REPTILES AND NORMAL MAN
[摘要] Pigmented leukocytes in amphibians and reptiles could be demonstrated and the pigment identified as melanin. In normal Bantu, as well as Bantu patients with conditions other than melanoma, pigmented mononuclear cells could be demonstrated. It is believed to be the first report of pigmented leukocytes in normal man, and the pigment could be identified as melanin. Mononuclear cells probably re-enter the circulation, and appears to be an example of the trephocytic function of leukocytes.
