RELATION OF CHEMICAL STRUCTURE TO FUNGISTATIC ACTIVITY
[摘要] The effectiveness of 42 compounds was tested against Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Microsporum canis, Monosporium apiospermum, Phialophora verrucosa, Sporotrichum Schenkii. and Candida albicans. The most effective of these compounds were tested against Coccidioides immitis. Chlorination and bromination increase fungistatic activity against most fungi. In the only instance tested, iodination increased the effectiveness, but fluorination did not. The substitution of 2 Cl atoms increased activity still further. Additional phenothiazine derivatives were tested and were found active in most cases. The most active fungistats against Coccidioides immitis were 1,10-phenanthroline; 2,9-dimethyl-l,10-phenanthroline; and beta-diethyiaminoethyi-1-methyl-3-isopropyl cyclopentane-carboxylate HCl.
