INVITRO EFFECTS OF STILBAMIDINE AND 2-HYDROXYSTILBAMIDINE ON SOME PATHOGENIC FUNGI

[摘要] The di-HCl and the diisethionate of stilbamidine, and the diisethionate of 2-hydroxystilbamidine were tested in vitro against the common dermatophytes and 3 spp. of systemic fungi. The min. fungistatic concn. of both diamidines ranged from 60 [mu]g./ml. to 1000 [mu]g./ml. of Sabouraud''s agar. Trichophyton schoenleini was the most sensitive, and Trichophyton rubrum the most resistant of the dermatophytes tested. Sporotrichum schencki was the most sensitive of the 3 systemic fungi tested. Addition of 1% arginine to the culture medium did not impair the antifungal action of the 2 diamidines. Expts. simulating local application indicated that both diamidines failed to penetrate into nails and hairs.
