RELATIVE INCIDENCE OF CANDIDA-ALBICANS ON THE SKINS OF PERSONS WITH AND WITHOUT SKIN DISEASES
[摘要] A survey of the skin surfaces of 309 individuals (109 presenting various skin abnormalities, but not diagnosed moniliasis; and 200 apparently healthy individuals) was undertaken to ascertain the presence or absence of C. albicans on the skin of these subjects. Sites cultured by swabbing technics and enrichment culture procedures included the interdigital spaces of the hands and feet, axillae, umbilicus, and the infra-mammary regions of female subjects. C. albicans was isolated from 1.5% of the normal subjects, and from 6.4% of individuals exhibiting skin diseases other than moniliasis.
