THE BACTERIOLOGIC FLORA IN SEBORRHEIC DERMATITIS

[摘要] Using a skin culture technique in the study of 15 subjects with varying degrees of seborrheic dermatitis and 15 non-seborrheic controls, no correlation was found between the presence of this condition and the number or types of bacteria on the skin. Statistical analysis revealed significant differences in bacterial counts from identical sites in the same subject at different times. These differences were often larger than the differences between seborrheics and non- seborrheics. Any conclusions concerning the bacteriologic flora of the skin must be critically analyzed in the light of these findings.
