TREATMENT OF HERPES ZOSTER WITH MOCCASIN VENOM

[摘要] Snake venom (Moccasin) 1:3000 (Lederle) has been found to a most effective form of treatment for herpes zoster if administered within 5 days after onset. Injns. were given intradermally at 2- or 4-day intervals beginning with 0.1 ml. Subsequent dosages were raised by 0.05 ml.-0.1 ml. No more than 4 injns. were used in a series of 20 cases. This venom is particularly effective in early cases with corneal involvement. Local reactions were minimal.
