DIRECT IDENTIFICATION OF CANDIDA-ALBICANS ON LITTMANS OXGALL AGAR

[摘要] A series of 51 isolations of yeast-like organisms was studied on Littman''s ox-gall agar. When cultured on Littman''s agar, colonies of C. albicans can be differentiated from Candida spp. and the other yeast-like organisms in a high percentage of cases. This compares favorably with other methods of separations. Sources of possible error are discussed. Six strains of Candida spp., obtained in pure culture from clinical lesions compatible with candidiasis, were identified as to spp. All were found to be non-pathogenic when injected intravenously into mice.
