Solution of surface singularities and stable reduction of the Fermat curve

[摘要] A simple proof of determining the stable reduction of the Fermat curve of prime degree p at the primes lying over p is given. The proof is based on the desingularization theory of excellent surfaces due to Hironaka and on the explicit description of an appropriate uniformiser of the local fields which are wildly ramified over Q(p).
