P-STUBBORN SUBGROUPS OF CLASSICAL COMPACT LIE-GROUPS
[摘要] For any compact Lie group G and any prime p, the p-stubborn subgroups of G have been defined earlier as a certain family of p-toral subgroups. Their main interest lies in the property that BG is F-p-homology equivalent to the homotopy direct limit of the classifying spaces of the p-stubborn subgroups of G. If G is finite, then these are the same as the radical p-subgroups of G. In this paper, the p-stubborn subgroups of the classical groups U(n), SU(n), SO(n), and Sp(n) are explicitly determined. This result is used by Notbohm in his proof of the uniqueness of many classifying spaces (uniqueness among spaces with the same F-p-cohomology).
