LIGHT-EMISSION FROM MATERIALS BOMBARDED WITH ELECTRONS OR OXYGEN IONS
[摘要] We have bombarded a variety of materials with electrons or oxygen ions to measure emission spectra and emitter formation efficiencies. For magnesium fluoride and alumina, the emitter formation efficiencies for any particular atomic line were about one in ten million for excitation by oxygen ions of 300-500 eV. These efficiencies were decreasing with energy. Emission from the CH radical was observed during bombardment of polyurethane-coated nylon. Oxygen ions induced surface changes in organic materials as evidenced by light emission.
